Kim McCoy Appointed to PBS Advisory Committee

New York, NY, October 15, 2020—INCLUDEnyc Senior Family Educator Kimberly McCoy has been appointed to the THIRTEEN Educational Services Advisory Committee for the 2021 fiscal year.  

The group will meet three times a year to advise on educational content and services, including PBS Kids programming (Cyberchase), educational games, parenting resources, and PBS LearningMedia, all free resources.

“I’m honored to be a part of this committee. As a professional and a parent of a child on the spectrum, more kids with disabilities need to be represented in the media and young viewers seeing themselves represented is a critical part of their healthy development,” Ms. McCoy said. “I commend THIRTEEN for having this advisory group, striving to make the media more inclusive of all children, including children with disabilities.”

Kimberly is a Senior Family Educator at INCLUDEnyc specializing in early childhood topics. She is also an attorney, former special educator, and parent of a child with autism. She brings over 10 years of experience in special education, ranging from early childhood evaluator and home-based ABA instructor to community school teacher. Kim attended City College for her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Special Education and earned her J.D. at Seton Hall University School of Law.

The WNET Group appointed local educators throughout NYC, Westchester, New Jersey, and Connecticut to this committee. The WNET Group is the nonprofit parent company of THIRTEEN, the flagship PBS station in New York City, WLIW21 in Long Island, and operates NJTV in New Jersey.
