(New York, NY)—Nearly 200 families, youth, and supporters enjoyed the excitement and wonder of a circus carnival at Circus Fun for Families, an accessible benefit for INCLUDEnyc at Chelsea Piers on June 25, 2022.

Circus Fun for Families featured a unique performance by Omnium Circus, a diverse troupe of performers with and without disabilities, as well as jugglers, a stilt walker, magician, carnival games, and festive food.

Circus Fun was such a joyful event. The smiles and laughter of the families in attendance was so rewarding. My favorite part—actually there were many—was seeing the light in the eyes of children running breathlessly with their cotton candy. Pure happiness,” said Owen PJ King, Board Chair at INCLUDEnyc. “Knowing that INCLUDEnyc is providing space where it is okay for youth with disabilities to be themselves means everything.”

The event also recognized Barbara Glassman and Ellen Miller-Wachtel. Glassman is leaving her role as Executive Director at INCLUDEnyc after more than six years. Miller-Wachtel, who has served on INCLUDEnyc’s Board for 20 years, will remain an active member, but has stepped down as Chair.

Lead sponsors of Circus Fun included Aces Laundry, and Alison & Owen King, each of whom contributed at the $15,000 level, and William Ford, Jamie and Howard Klein, and Värde Partners, each supporting the event at the $10,000 level.

Goldman-Sachs employees also volunteered for the event.

“We were delighted to see more than 200 youth and adults enjoying the  accessible activities at Circus Fun for Families,” said Diana Breen, Interim Executive Director at INCLUDEnyc. “The support from the event helps INCLUDEnyc deliver free programs that help families foster inclusion and independence for young people who are disabled.”
