Join INCLUDEnyc for a screening party of the award-winning documentary Forget Me Not: Inclusion in the Classroom followed by a talkback with the film’s director Olivier Bernier and Lori Podvesker, Director of Disability and Education Policy at INCLUDEnyc, on November 10, 2022, at 6 PM.
As 3-year-old Emilio prepares to start school, his family finds itself embroiled in a challenge all too common for children with disabilities – to secure the right to an inclusive education. Filmmaker Bernier and his wife Hilda turn the camera on themselves and their child with Down syndrome, as they navigate a complicated system originally designed to isolate children with disabilities.
Forget Me Not: Inclusion in the Classroom was the opening night film at the 2021 Human Rights Watch Film Festival and winner of the Grand Jury Award at Slamdance Film Festival earlier this year. The film is available from Cinema Libre Studios on DVD and Streaming.
Register now for the screening party. The virtual event is free.
The screening will include Spanish closed captions and a Spanish-speaking interpreter will be available for the talkback.
